Catherine Birir

Catherine Birir is an accomplished Kenyan educator and the Senior Headteacher at Unity Primary School (Unity Comprehensive School) in Umoja, Nairobi. With over 30 years of experience in the education sector, she is a leading advocate for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and has been instrumental in preparing learners for the transition to senior school.
Her leadership extends internationally through her work with the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms program, where she facilitates global knowledge exchange to enhance pedagogical standards. A graduate of Kenyatta University with First Class honours , Catherine is widely respected for her commitment to academic excellence, digital literacy in schools, and infrastructural development to create conducive learning environments for her 2,500+ students.
