Global community co-founded by Ethiopian researchers Timnit Gebru and Rediet Abebe. Increases presence and inclusion of Black people in AI through mentorship, advocacy, and research. Africa-founded with country representatives across East, West, and Southern Africa. Created the global infrastructure for Black and African AI researchers to thrive. Named after the continent's diaspora — with deep roots in East Africa.
